Description
Black Light allow you to invert the colors on your screen. This is done by inverting the gamma curve of the screen. When you open Black Light, the screen is automaticly inverted. Colors are restored when you quit. You can click on Black Light’s icon in the Dock to toggle between the two states.
From the preferences you can also activate some special effects. It is possible to, beside inverting the screen, dim the screen or hide stripes of the Aqua interface (by removing all light grays). Black Light 1.6 also feature a color filter mode so you can make the screen black and red, or green, if you want.
Screen Saver
There is also a Black Light screen saver module which invert the screen while still allowing you to see what happend beyond. This screen saver is also capable of some nice animated colors effects.
Known issues
When another application has changed the gamma curve of the screen, the default gamma is restored when it closes. This happend with most of the screen savers. You will need to click again on the Black Light’s icon to reactivate the effect.
The cursor sometimes invert, but not always. This can vary depending on the video card of your computer and the way an application change the cursor on screen.
The screen saver does not work well when Mac OS X is configured to ask for a password before returning to the normal screen. It used to work on older verions of Mac OS X but security restrictions now make it impossible to make a “transparent” screen saver like Black Light when the screen is locked with a password.

Black Light 1.6 — 6 March 2006
Improved the inversion algorithm to respect the gamma correction curve in use on the screen. Previously the gamma correction was inverted when the colors were, the correction was applied in reverse and could make gray levels appear coloured.
Added the color filter effect to the Black Light application.
Black Light and its screen saver are universal binaries that can work nativly on Mac OS X for the Intel processor.
